Copper Dory

This is my latest “John Dory” fish.

He’s made from recycled copper, stainless steel and red iron bark wood.

Length 1.7m x 2.0m high.

This piece is ever changing as the copper has unique reflective qualities, and is quite stunning even in low light.

There are more images of the "John Dory" in the Gallery.

Lady in a Skeleton Dress

FOR SALE

I headed to Cape York in search of some unique pieces of wood.

With permission l had access to a large cattle station and from a previous excursion to this area l headed back to where l had seen some extremely rare and beautiful wood pieces from a Normanby Skeleton Tree! (only growing in approximately 20km radius of this area)

The age of some of these pieces of wood collected is estimated at over a century old. The colours are extraordinary and fade from white to red and into a weathered grey.

l have left some of the natural grey and also hand polished selected parts of each individual piece.

“Lady in Skeleton Dress” has been challenging and satisfying experience.

Finished in Carnauba wax to accentuate the wood colour and grain.

Dimensions: 1.9m tall .7m wide.

There are more images of the "Lady in a Skeleton Dress" in the Gallery.

Saltwater Crocodile    SOLD

A commission piece for Weipa - Cape York.

This Croc is 3.8m long and is made mostly of inland desert hardwoods, beautiful Messmate, Burl wood and Oakwood. The shape, relative arrangement of the wood and general geometry of this piece was a reading challenge.

I feel lucky to have the opportunity to represent these magnificent semi aquatic reptiles and to have gained some knowledge and respect they deserve.
